Dr. John Watson, senior director, information technology and analytics for the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC), is responsible for the management, coordination, and supervision of information technology and analytics projects. For over two decades, he has worked in the areas of software and technology development in the public and private sectors and has also served as a faculty member and researcher. His work has included assisting K-12 and higher education faculty and administrators in setting up the design of student assessment and classroom observation data collection projects — on local intranets, the Internet via web-based data management systems or hand-held devices. Dr. Watson has held faculty positions at U.S. University, National University and San Diego State University while continuing research in the area of educational data collection and reporting, and human and machine cognition.

Dr. Watson earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of San Diego, a master’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from San Diego State University and a joint doctorate in education from Claremont Graduate University and San Diego State University.
