LaShawndra is an education advocate currently serving as Ingenuity Prep Charter School Chief of Staff building and maintaining a thriving organizational culture, driving organizational excellence, and cultivating cohesion through communication. Her strong beliefs in equality, equity, and opportunity led her to various roles that focus on making substantive social impact for vulnerable populations.
Prior to Ingenuity Prep Charter School, LaShawndra served as the Chief Operating Officer, The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, and as an Associate Director at Achieving the Dream, working to redesign community colleges to better serve low-income students by providing holistic student supports. She has also held positions at the U.S. Department of Education working on the Charters Schools Program, Teacher Incentive Fund, and Race to the Top District.
When LaShawndra isn’t working, she is often camping, kayaking, or traveling, and loves eating Ethiopian & Thai food. She earned a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She lives in Washington, D.C.
