A former director of IEBC educational collaboration, Shelly Valdez has been responsible for planning, organizing and directing initiatives that emphasize cross-discipline, cross-segment and cross-sector collaboration. Her multi-faceted background includes teaching communication and leadership; consulting work with high schools and colleges on student success and student learning outcomes; adjunct faculty member in the School of Business at the University of San Diego (USD), and coordinator of the Center for Teaching and Learning at USD. She provided oversight for the California Partnership for Achieving Student Success (Cal-PASS) work in California prior to joining IEBC.

Dr. Valdez earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in speech from Washington University in St. Louis and her doctorate in education leadership from the University of San Diego.
